“Don’t be so overly dramatic gamers” – Palworld’s community manager on fans’ claims that the Pokemon-like was snubbed at The Game Awards

The nominees for The Game Awards were announced earlier this week and some Palworld fans are angry that the game didn’t get one.

It’s another year, another Game Awards where we all give our opinions on which games are and aren’t nominated, despite the fact that the entire show is just a glorified commercial. This time around, one of the big ones that feels a bit conspicuously absent is Palworld, the Pokemon-with-guns game that released in January and was more successful than most people thought possible. Popularity isn’t a good thing, however, as Palworld didn’t receive a single nomination at this year’s Game Awards, even in a category like best ongoing game, and this lack of representation has led some fans to claim the game was snubbed.

Does Palworld’s community manager agree? As noted by PC Gamer, apparently not. “No, I don’t think Palworld was rejected,” the game’s community manager John Buckley wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Twitter has become such a banter-less place. Stop being so dramatic about gamers. Not everything is a conspiracy.” He’s not wrong when he says Twitter or gamers are a bit dramatic, but unfortunately I don’t think one tweet will change any of these things anytime soon. Buckley did have one complaint, though: “That being said… Satisfactory was 1000% frowned upon and I will express that opinion ad nauseam at The Game Awards in person.” Tell ’em, Buckley!

At this point, I’m sure developer Pocketpair has some bigger concerns on his mind. In September, Nintendo finally filed a lawsuit against the developer over patent infringement claims, which wasn’t exactly what most of us had hoped for. Pocketpair provided an update on this earlier this month, outlining which patents are believed to be infringed, and also noting that it will “continue to defend our position in this matter through future legal proceedings.”
